Just because he was banned that doesn't remove his impact on the community. So they're immortalizing someone that they permanently banned for account sharing? Seems kind of hypocritical/weird. The line "I don't train assassination rogues" is a homage to Reckful's PvP skills in Wrath of the Lich King - When Assassination Rogue became the meta rogue spec in WotLK, it was considered extremely powerful, but Reckful wanted to prove that he did not need to play an overpowered spec to be good, going as far as not training one of the core abilities of the spec then, Mutilate, and instead reaching Rank 1 in arenas as a Subtlety Rogue. His NPC also comes with some unique dialogue, as he states "I don't train assassination rogues." and the player has an option to tell Reckful that "It was good seeing you again." Nothing at the moment happens when you select it, but it was a nice touch to add, because we can see him once again in the virtual world of Azeroth. While most Rogue trainers are located in Old Town, Reckful is fittingly located in the Cathedral of Light, the place of many community gatherings in his memory. While Reckful previously had the NPC Byron Burnside, a tribute to his actual name, the new Shadowlands NPC Reckful pays tribute to his persona as a skilled rogue and nickname he was well-known by in the WoW community. From his 3000 rating in PvP to trailblazing the way on Twitch for other World of Warcraft players, he was a role model for so many in our community.Īfter his passing last month, thousands of players paid tribute by gathering in Stormwind Cathedral and Grommash Hold. Reckful was a pillar of the WoW community and inspired so many players. Blizzard has paid tribute to Reckful by adding him as a Rogue Trainer NPC in Shadowlands.
